To become completely enthralled in a story, to increasingly care, to listen to every nuanced word is the experience that Tom Larkin offers. Dostoyevsky’s story is gripping, the telling of it by Tom is a marvel of simplicity. I felt fear and hope. It might be the best hour you can spend in a theatre.

A man sitting cross-legged on the floor with a thoughtful expression, scratching his temple, in front of a textured, peeling wall.

Overwhelmed by philosophical thoughts and a conviction that nothing in the world makes any difference to him the Ridiculous Man sets the scene for his suicide. One fatal night a little girl who begs him for help causes him to hesitate and he sinks into a life-changing dream.

It’s a highly emotional roller-coaster with tragi-comic twists and turns. Dostoevsky’s profound story has been performed by a number of outstanding actors, including Jeremy Irons. Tom Larkin puts his personal stamp on it and delivers a tour de force. Set in our contemporary world The Ridiculous Man brings a powerful message of hope, love and the potential for transformation.

“Does it make any difference if it was a dream or not, if this dream revealed the Truth to me” - The Ridiculous Man
